Less Plastic, More Future
A Free Interactive Presentation from the Plastics Collaborative

Plastic Pollution Is a Health Crisis in Allegheny County. Your Organization Can Help.
Less Plastic, More Future brings a free, expert-led, interactive presentation to schools, faith communities, and local organizations, giving your community the knowledge and tools to act on plastic pollution.
Plastic Pollution Is Already Here, and It’s Affecting Our Health
Most people think of plastic pollution as an ocean problem. But microplastics have been found in every tested waterway in Pennsylvania, including Pittsburgh’s three rivers. They’re in our drinking water, our food, and our bodies.

A Credit Card a Week
Research shows the average person may ingest a credit card’s worth of microplastics every week, with links to cancer, hormone disruption, and heart disease.

In Every PA Waterway
A PennEnvironment survey found microplastics in every tested waterway across Pennsylvania, including the rivers that flow through our neighborhoods.

An Environmental Justice Issue
Communities in the Hill District, South Hilltop, Penn Hills, and Wilkinsburg bear a disproportionate burden of pollution and have the fewest resources to fight it.
These communities aren’t just environmentally overburdened. They’re under-resourced when it comes to education about the issues and tools for sustainable living. That’s exactly the gap Less Plastic, More Future was created to fill.

A Free Interactive Presentation That Gives Your Community the Tools to Act
Less Plastic, More Future is a community education initiative of the Plastics Collaborative, a program of Humane Action Pennsylvania. Led by Dr. Darrell Payne, PhD, each free interactive presentation is designed to close the knowledge gap around single-use plastic pollution, with a specific focus on the communities most affected.
In a single session, your group will learn how plastic pollution impacts local health and the environment, why recycling alone isn’t the answer, how to identify greenwashing and false solutions, and what practical steps individuals and organizations can take right now.
Dr. Darrell Payne, Education Manager, Humane Action Pennsylvania. Dr. Payne leads the Less Plastic, More Future education series, bringing expert knowledge on plastic pollution’s health impacts directly to Allegheny County communities.
